For many people, Christmas is about family. And for those who have lost loved ones, it can be one of the hardest times of the year. Their loss is often felt most sharply on Christmas Day.

So we interviewed dozens of people who were generous and kind enough to share their own stories, anecdotes, tears and laughter about their loved ones, and how Christmas feels in their absence.
